Medical Oncology Lymphoma Fellowship Opportunity – BC Cancer Vancouver

The BC Cancer – Vancouver Cancer Centre is pleased to announce an opportunity for a Lymphoma Fellowship. This is a clinical fellowship with opportunities for additional clinical and translational research. The successful candidate will join the BC Lymphoma Program where our mandate is to provide comprehensive care for patients living with these diseases; contributing to the of the field through advanced care delivery (including complex immunotherapy), clinical trial participation and collaborations with our clinical and translational research teams.
BC Cancer provides a comprehensive cancer control program for the people of BC in partnership with regional health authorities. BC Cancer’s mandate covers the spectrum of cancer care, from prevention and screening, to diagnosis, treatment, and through to rehabilitation. Our mandate is driven by a three-fold mission:

• To improve the quality of life of people living with cancer

Job: Lymphoma Fellowship opportunity with the Department of Medical Oncology at BC Cancer, Vancouver Centre

Term/start date: This is negotiable; a minimum of 12 months is required to obtain fellowship certification

Description: Medical oncology fellowship position available (start date flexible) at Vancouver Cancer Centre. Applicant must be eligible for license in British Columbia.

English Exam: IELTS Academic examination requirements: primary language of medical education is not in English:

Candidates who have not met the above requirements will require one of the following examinations:

IELTS Academic examination

• Minimum score of 7 in each component
• Forward your Test Report Form (TRF) by including the College as one of the five institutions on your application form or order additional copies from the testing centre where the test was taken. Alternatively, you may forward your TRF number to the College, and the College can vie your score through the IELTS Academic verification werivce.
• A TRF is valid for a period of two years from the date taken.

Specific educational requirements include;

• Medical Degree
• Medical Council of Canada Examinations
• Postgrad training program – subspecialty

Overview of Training:

• Clinical training in the management of specific tumour site (Lymphoma) in addition to translational research;
• Outpatient Clinic patient care and clinical outcomes and applied research (focus of research project defined through ongoing discussion with supervisor).

OBJECTIVES:
The overall goal of the BC Cancer Fellowship training program is to develop knowledge and experience in the field of (tumor group site – Lymphoma Program). It is the intention of the program that trainees will develop an understanding of the general fundamental principles, in order to provide a strong foundation for further work and training within the field. Learning during the fellowship program is focused around broad categories including: medical knowledge, patient care, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism and educational and research activities.

The general educational objectives for Fellows are as follows:

• Understand the basic pathophysiologic principles of specific tumour site (Lymphoma);
• Develop the clinical skills and expertise necessary for the care of specific tumour site patients treated with plasma cell directed therapy (Lymphoma);
• Develop an understanding of the monitoring, diagnosis and management patients with specific tumour site (Lymphoma);
• Develop interpersonal and communication skills required for effective patient management and education;
• Develop the procedural and technical skills required for the management of specific tumour site (Lymphoma);
• Participate in journal clubs, morbidity and mortality conferences, and case rounds;
• Participate in clinical, translational or basic research in specific tumour site (Lymphoma).
