CWC was Founded in 2014, Choosing Wisely Canada is the national voice for reducing unnecessary tests and treatments in Canada. It is a clinician-led campaign that encourages informed conversations between clinicians and patients about the potential risks of unnecessary tests, treatments, or procedures. Central to the campaign are recommendations developed by national clinician societies that identify frequently overused tests and treatments that are not supported by scientific evidence and may unnecessarily expose patients to harm. A total of 61 new recommendations were made. Choosing Wisely is a campaign to help physicians and patients engage in conversations about unnecessary tests, treatments and procedures and to help physicians and patients make smart and effective choices to ensure high quality care.
