AutoSCT and Cellular Therapy Physician – Full time

The Grand River Regional Cancer Center is currently recruiting for a 1.0 full time equivalent (FTE) Alternate Payment Plan (APP) funded Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy Physician. This position is available immediately.

GRRCC provides a full service of comprehensive cancer treatments to over 700,000 residents in the Waterloo Region, Wellington County and the surrounding area, including complex hematology. GRRCC is in the process of building an autonomous autologous stem cell program (autoSCT) with a plan to deliver CAR-T therapy within the next 3-5 years.

This is a clinical position and responsibilities will include care of complex malignant hematology patients (autoSCT, CART, acute leukemia) as well as some general malignant hematology. Duties include attending in outpatient clinics, inpatient care, regional support and participation in on-call coverage. Program development, leadership and participation in quality and FACT accreditation is expected. The successful applicant will demonstrate passion, initiative, and a collaborative and flexible approach in the workplace.

Opportunities for teaching with the Satellite McMaster University Faculty of Health Sciences are available and encouraged, with medical students, residents and fellows regularly rotating through the program.

Certification in Hematology or Medical Oncology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and eligibility for independent licensure in the Province of Ontario are required. A transplant and/or cellular therpay related fellowship is a prerequisite for this position. The successful applicant must maintain privileges at Grand River Hospital and other associated hospitals in the region as required.
